Description

The United States Military Academy, USMA, West Point, NY 10996 is seeking potential sources capable of demonstrating the ability to restore The French Soldier Monument at West Point, NY. The monument is an eight foot bronze statue on a six foot by six foot marble base that is approximately seven feet tall. The following is a description of the work to be accomplished: 1. Removal of the bronze statue for pinhole repair and cleaning, 2. Removal fo the marble base to permanent storage on West Point (it may be possible for contractor to remove base to his worksite temporarily), 3. Replacement of footing (footing may be accomplished by another contractor), 4. Procurement of monolithic quarry stone, either limestone or marble, that as closely as possible matches the color and texture of the original base, 5. Stone to be cut to exactly duplicate dimensions and relief of original base and plinth, 6. Base and statue to be re-sited on new footing, 7. All tasks to be accomplished no later than 12/31/01, 8. Entire statue (monument) is to be final cleaned and the bronze coated with micro-crystalline wax, JAX will not be used. There may be restrictions on the types of vehicles that may be allowed access to the worksite and such access may require extraordinary measures to accomplish. The completed work is to be shrouded with a security curtain, supplied by the contractor, until shortly before the unveiling date (tba). This is a sources sought synopsis. No solicitation document exists at this time. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized in the CBD. It is the potential offeror's responsibility to monitor the cite for release of any future solicitation or synopsis. Offerors having the capability to accomplish this work are invited to provide information to contribute to this market survey/sources sought synopsis including commercial market information and company information via e-mail to the contract specialist at ys9442@exmail.usma.edu. Company information should include qualifications and experience in work of this nature, point of contact, business size and disadvantaged, 8(a) or HUBZone status; corporate affiliations, potential joint venture partners, teaming partners, and or subcontractors or prime. Any information submitted in response to this synopsis is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information submitted in response to this sources sought. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business, 8(a) or any other set aside arrangement as deemed appropriate for this procurement.
