Description

Technical Assistance to promote literacy and numeracy by improving the quality of educational instruction and administrative efficiency in Haitian primary schools and to provide support to the Haitian primary education sector Subject to the availability of funds, and pursuant to AIDAR 706.302.70, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Haiti) intends to award a non-competitive modification to Contract No. 521-C-00-97-00045-00 with the Academy for Educational Development (AED) under the Education 2004 Activity No.521-0259 to continue with AED for a period of 12 months (i.e. September 30, 2002) for services under the original contract scope of work. During this 12-month extension period, the contractor responsible for implementation will do the following. (1) Maintain the established core service package to the schools included in the Education 2004 network, including training of teachers and administrators; implementation of distance education; assisting collaboration among "cluster" schools in the network; encouragement of community involvement in school activities; and the provision of books and supplies. (2) Strengthen the institutional capacities of ten local partner organizations, by using them as implementors of the core service package to approximately 350 schools. (3) Provision of technical support to the policy reform efforts of the Ministry of National Education, including the facilitation of continued collaboration between private and public sectors.
