Description

United Defense L.P. (UDLP) has been authorized by the Department of the Army to continue Crusader program activities under the Program Definition and Risk Reduction phase, which includes procurement of the track for the Crusader Self Propelled Howitzer (SPH) and ReSupply Vehicle (RSV). It is UDLP's intent for the objective track and suspension subsystems to be common between the SPH and RSV. The RFP will request proposals for a forged or cast steel, rubber bushed, dual-pinned track with replaceable elastomer ground pads to support a maximum Gross Vehicle Weight of 50 US Tons (45.3 tonnes). The Offerors shall be responsible for the design, analyses, fabrication, assembly and test of their proposed track. The RFP for this effort is planned for release by 31 January 2001. The period of performance for this development effort is anticipated to be through April 2003. Any resultant contract award will be made through a directed procurement from UDLP or General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS).
