- Description
- This announcement constitutes a sources sought synopsis. The F-16 Logistics Operations Division, Mechanical/Structural Section, has a requirement for the redesign, manufacture and delivery of the F-16 A/C Electromechanical Rotary Actuators, NSN: 1680-01-458-2751, P/N: 16VK056001. The following information is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting a Market Research of Industry to determine potential contractors who have the skills, knowledge and experience required to successfully complete this effort. These items are part of the F-16 canopy/egress system and are controlled by Lockheed Martin Specification 16VK056A and Specification Control Drawing 16VK056001. These items are critical components of the single- place F-16 aircraft.. The actuator raises and lowers the canopy assembly, supports the canopy in the open position and must meet safety requirements. Qualified sources are required for these items to ensure the Air Force receives high quality actuators. This is critical for personnel safety, mission accomplishment and functional integrity. This notice is for the requirement to design an actuator to meet the improved specification, 16VK056001. Existing space and housing size restrictions must be maintained. The redesigned actuator must have an increased load capability and increased lead time between failures.. The design must be able to accommodate a simplified overhaul, i.e. repeatability in rigging. The motor must have thermal protection. The design must be able to meet or exceed all necessary requirements as well as those of FAR clause 52.219-14, "Limitation of Subcontracting." Also offerors shall meet all qualification requirements to become a qualified source. Potential offerors are requested to provide a summary of their capabilities and facilities and other information they have that is indicative of their ability to perform the design, development and manufacture of the F-16 Single-Place Canopy Actuators. The government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request, or otherwise pay for the information solicited. For answers to technical questions, please contact Lt Mike Anderson OO-ALC/LGFMM, (801)775-4526. Interested parties are requested to submit two copies of the aforementioned summary of capabilities and facilities to Allen Berrett, (801)777-0139, OO- ALC/LGKE, 6072 Fir Avenue, Hill AFB Utah 84956-5820, no later than 15 working days after publication of this notice.
