Description

Solicitation N00421-01-Q-0135 is issued as a request for quote (RFQ). This action is not set aside for small business. The Government intends to purchase on a firm fixed-price basis and to solicit and negotiate the proposed contract for eleven (11) UHF SATCOM Antennas on a sole source basis with Astron Antenna Company., 22560 Glenn Drive, Suite 114, Sterling VA 20614, under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1 (Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements). The antennas will be used in a project for a self contained modular communications system that fulfills the requirement for a small, two man lift, high data rate communications system. The project requires an omnidirectional, full hemispheric coverage UHF SATCOM antenna. The weight limitations must not exceed 20 pounds. Additionally, the required antenna must be a right hand circular polarized over the full hemisphere. Previous analysis revealed that Astron Antenna was the only available product on the market that could meet the requirements. The contract line item number and description is ** CLIN 0001 UHF SATCOM Antenna (PN: SC-303B), quantity 6; CLIN 0002 UHF SATCOM Antenna (PN: SC-303B), quantity 2; CLIN 0003 UHF SATCOM Antenna (PN: SC-303B), quantity 3. Award is expected 02 Feb 2001. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by 01 Feb 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not pay for any information received.
