Description
PRESOLICITATION NOTICE FOR THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH (NIH), BETHESDA, MD. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set Aside. It is the intent of the NIH to procure this project under a two (2)-step acquisition process. The First Step will pre-qualify construction contractors for a bidders list to provide all services for the construction project. Under the Second Step the qualified contractors shall submit a Bid for the Base Award and Bids for the Four Options for the project construction. Base Bid and Options are detailed on the drawings and specifications or other solicitation documents. The magnitude of this construction project is estimated to be between $1 -- 5 Million. Construction of the project is to be completed within 16 months from the notice to proceed including any options exercised. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The work includes all materials, labor, supervision, commissioning and any other associated cost necessary to construct a New NIH "Fire Station" at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The new Fire Station project consists of construction for approximately 21,000 SF. The building will be two stories with a mezzanine, apparatus aprons and employee parking. In general the building materials will consist of, but not limited to: concrete slab on grade, structural steel frame, masonry cavity wall, exterior gypsum board, CMU interior walls, acoustic tile, carpet/ tile floor finished, and related mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The project will include all related sitework , including but not limited to: earthwork, site utilities, asphalt paving, concrete paving and landscaping. The General Contractor selected will require specialized organizational and planning skills for coordinating a large number of highly skilled subcontractors to ensure that the final built structure meet the contract documents and construction deadlines. NIH will publish an annoucement of the solicitation of step one(1) for submission of the technical qualifications soon in the Commerce Business Daily. See Note No. 1.
