- Description
- SOURCES SOUGHT: FUTURE COMBAT SYSTEM MULTI-ROLE FIRE CONTROL SUBSYSTEM WITH THE US ARMY TANK-AUTOMOTIVE AND ARMAMENTS COMMAND, ARMAMENT RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING CENTER (TACOM-ARDEC), PICATINNY ARSENAL, NJ. The Future Combat System (FCS) Multi-Role Fire Control program will provide maximum attainable weapon pointing control, accuracy and fires efficiency for the TACOM- ARDEC Multi-Role Armament and Ammunition System (MRAAS) Advanced Technology Demonstrator (ATD). The MRAAS ATD objective is to develop and demonstrate a lightweight, multi-mission highly lethal, yet strategically deployable (C130/less than 20 tons) armament system for FCS. This MRAAS ATD effort will incorporate force-level trade-off studies, maneuver and fire support mission requirements analysis, development of a Best Technical Approach (BTA), and eventually conduct of demonstrations of major component technologies and a lethality mission module integrated on a surrogate vehicle. Development of the FCS Multi-Role Fire Control System will be focused on the technology applications and software development tasks that are required to provide an advanced fire control system for the ARDEC MRAAS ATD. This will include the related integration of turret and weapon drive systems, target tracking, static and dynamic muzzle position measurement, down-range crosswind sensing, temperature-induced gun jump compensation, sighting devices, platform inertial measurement techniques, and projectile tracking. While operating in direct and indirect fire modes employing a suite of new munitions and a new gun system, the FCS Multi-Role Fire Control System will support the implementation of network centric operations through the inclusion of an FCS Fires function which is based upon the use of tactical Decision Aids and the development of the Distributed Interactive Fire Mission (DIFM) concept. The FCS Fires applies software functions that will provide assignment of targets to shooters within a team (FCS cell), so as to maximize the probability of first round kill for the group and ensure best possible engagement efficiency. A draft Request for Proposal for the ARDEC FCS MRAAS Fire Control System development task will be available on the Acquisition Center Website (Procnet at http://procnet.pica.army.mil within 30 days of this announcement.
