Description
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order to Crested Butte Mountain Resort Inc, Mount Crested Butte, Colorado for lodging required during the period January 17, 2001 through February 16, 2001 for multi-echelon cold weather training exercises by the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, CO. Number of rooms and dates are as indicated: two rooms (4 soldiers) during January 17 20; ten rooms (20 soldiers) during January 21 February 3; 45 rooms (128 soldiers) during February 4 16. One storage/ ski maintenance room and one consolidated operations and communications room is required during January 17 February 16. The operations and communication room shall have three telephone lines that are fax and Internet capable. The operations and communications room will be consolidated with one of the sleeping rooms that is included above in the total rooms required. Each room shall have two king-size beds. One Government cot shall be permissible per room at no additional charge. A consolidated parking area for a minimum of 30 vehicles shall be provided at no charge; vehicles will include tactical and TMP vehicles, snowmobiles, and trailers. Room rates shall be based on minimum occupancy. FAR 6.302-1 is cited as sole source authority using the following criteria: (1) terrain in the backcountry must accommodate all skiing skill levels from beginner to advanced (2) all soldiers shall be co-located for lodging and messing considerations (3) the training areas shall be close to the lodging to minimize safety risks on icy roads, and decrease support requirements in an effort to reduce costs and increase the number of soldiers that are able to participated in the training (4) ground MEDEVAC support shall be capable of reaching and transporting injured soldiers anywhere in the training area within one hour (5) medical support facilities shall be available to support potential life threatening injuries and shall be located as close as possible to the training area (6) training areas shall be accessible by ground vehicles (7) facility shall be able to accommodate up to 140 soldiers at any one time. This is not a formal solicitation. This synopsis is not considered a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source or offers are available and more advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written response is received, the purchase will be awarded without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
