Description
The National Park Service is soliciting bids on a full and open competitive basis, from qualified companies, for the Construction of Two Docking Systems in the Timucuan Preserve area, Jacksonville, Florida. The work consists of providing all labor, supervision, tools, materials, equipment and incidentals required for the construction of each of these systems. The two docking systems will consist of fixed concrete piers extending from the land into the water culminating in a Tee shaped Pier Head. On one side of this Pier Head a ramp will lead to an associated Floating Concrete Pier. At Fort Caroline NMEM this pier will consist of two separate areas. The greater section will have 18 inches of freeboard while the smaller section will have only 12 inches of freeboard. In contrast, the floating pier at Kingsley Plantation will be set as one section and will have 18 inches of freeboard. The site at Fort Caroline NMEM is located in an area in which the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a riprap wall for erosion control in the past. Access to the shoreward portion of the pier will require movement of an area of this wall sufficient to allow movement of the construction barge nearer to the shoreline. This material is to be replaced in its original location prior to leaving the site after construction of the pier. Sequence of replacement is left to the Contractor's discretion. Both areas will require a small amount of new fill material to provide the proper elevation for the shore support of the pier. In addition, a small amount of new rock riprap will be required to prevent erosion of the slope directly in front of this support area. The magnitude of this project is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. The solicitations will be available on or about January 22, 2001. ALL requests for the solicitation MUST be in writing. After the first 25 copies of the solicitation are disbursed a $50.00 fee (cashier's check or money order) will be required. The solicitation may be requested via mail, email, or fax. The fax number is (404) 562-3256. TELEPHONE REQUESTS FOR THE SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
