Description
The USDA, National Finance Center, 13800 Old Gentilly Rd. New Orleans, LA 70129 is seeking integration and application technical support for managing the Electronic Publishing System (EPS). The EPS is comprised of the following hardware and software: Hardware. The EPS hardware includes three (3) IBM RS/6000 servers with a RAID subsystem, one (1) IBM RS/6000 workstation, ten (10) Sun UltraSPARC workstations, two (2) Sun IPX workstations, approximately 45 multi-boot Wintel clients, Cisco network equipment, eight (8) QMS laser printers, two (2) Canon color copiers with Postscript Intelligent Processing Units, (PS-IPU's) and Firey Raster Image Processors (RIPs) enabling network printing, one (1) LaserMaster large-format color printer. All hardware is connected by a 100 base-T Ethernet network using TCP/IP. The EPS interfaces with and is supported by an IBM9X2 mainframe system, and the NFC enterprise-wide Novell Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure, and connects with 2 Xerox DocuTech network print servers and a Xerox DigiPath scanning sub-system via a WAN. Software. The EPS software includes Interleaf 7/Quicksilver technical publishing software (including Motif Publishers Edition for Sun SPARC and RS/6000; Motif Developers Edition for Sun SPARC; Motif Basic Edition for IBM RS/6000; Interleaf Quicksilver XML authoring software for Sun SPARC, RS/6000, and Wintel; Interleaf DemandPrint2 on-demand printing software for Sun SPARC/Solaris; Sun SPARC /SunOS, IBM RS/6000, and Wintel ('95, '98, NT, and 2000); iPlanet Internet Web Server Enterprise Edition for IBM RS/6000; Elixir and Xerox Intran Forms Development Application Software (including Form Builder, Designer Graphics, Resource Manager, CEP Transform, Font Factory, Font Builder, and XFloppy); Samba SMB file and print sharing services; and CD ROM mastering software. Other application software includes Microsoft Office 2000; Novell GroupWise (Windows and Solaris versions); Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers; mainframe emulator software for Windows and Solaris; Mentallics scanning software; Dreamweaver; Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Acrobat Reader; Paint Shop Pro; Quark Express; and SnagIt screen capture software. DAB also maintains Internet and Intranet Web sites that present user documentation, information about NFC, and other information that may be of interest to NFC customers, potential customers, NFC employees, and others. DAB is in the process of establishing a Web site instance that serves online help files to NFC Web applications and another site that hosts in-house organization homepages. The integration technical support contractor will be issued task orders identifying work to be performed and the deliverables expected. NFC is contracting for a minimum of 85 working to a maximum of 125 working days over the course of 1 year with one optional renewal period. All work will be performed at 13800 Old Gentilly RD. New Orleans, LA 70129. Contractors with proven , documented expertise in the hardware/software environment defined above is invited to submit a proposal. The issue date for the solicitation is January 16, 2001 with all proposal responses due 3:30 CST February 16, 2001.
