Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Mist Mobility Integrated Systems Technology (MMIST) for parachutes, 400 sq ft, orange color with suspension lines and risers, qty: six (6); drogue parachutes for 400 sq ft parachutes, qty: six (6); deployment bags for 400 sq ft parachutes, qty: six (6); static lines and bags for 400 sq ft parachutes, qty: six (6); parachute, 800 sq ft, orange color with suspension lines and risers, qty: one (1); drogue parachute for 800 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1); deployment bag for 800 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1); static line and bag for 800 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1); parachute, 900 sq ft, orange color with suspension lines and risers, qty: one (1); drogue parachute for 900 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1); deployment bag for 900 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1); and, static line and bag for 900 sq ft parachute, qty: one (1). MMIST currently stocks and has available the items listed above as complete canopies for its "Sherpa" Guided Parafoil Aerial Delivery System (GPADS). Combined together, the listed items (suspension lines and risers) are specifically, factory modified for the unique servo mechanized Aerial Guidance Unit (AGU) which is the heart of the "Sherpa" GPADS already procured. Performance Design (PD) is the maker of the orange canopies. All of the GPADS research, design, testing, evaluation, performance standards, and data were generated using PD parachutes, and PD provides bulk deliveries of the parachutes to MMIST as their sole manufacturer of these items. No other canopies are authorized for use with GPADS. MMIST would not honor any claims against itself as a result of system failure of the original systems procured if PD canopies are not used. To attempt to use a substitute is to compromise the GPADS chances of success due to performance changes as well as risk the safety of the system and its operators. No RFP is available for competitive bidding; however interested parties are encouraged to submit a statement of capability for satisfying this requirement within 15 days of this announcement to the contact person listed above. See numbered Note 22.
