- Description
- The United States Coast Guard is considering whether or not to set aside an acquisition for HUBZone concerns only. The estimated value of this procurement is between $250,000 and $500,000. The small business size standard is less than 1,000 employees. The acquisition is for dockside repairs to the USCGC ELM (WLB 204), a 225 foot seagoing buoy tender. All work will be performed in Atlantic Beach, NC, the cutter's homepier. The performance period is for 35 days. The scope of the acquisition is for the overhauling, modifying, cleaning and repairing of various items aboard the USCGC ELM (WLB 204). This work is such as, but not limited to: welding repairs, clean and inspect diesel fuel tanks, clean, inspect and disinfect potable water tank(s), clean and inspect fuel oil coolers, renew radar pedestal, clean and inspect hydraulic oil coolers, inspect and test cross deck winches, inspect, test and preserve chain in-haul device, inspect and test hydraulic chain stoppers, inspect and overhaul mechanical chain stoppers, inspect and test boat davits, inspect and test buoy crane, inspect various deck fittings, buoy deck preservation, preserve stack exterior and exhaust louvers and screens, modify reverse osmosis desalination plants, preserve capstan drums, overhaul anchor windlass brake control assemblies, renew emergency crane lowering system external components, replace wardroom deck covering system, etc. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders, who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures. At the present time, the acquisition is expected to be issued under full and open competition procedures. However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is HUBZone certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition, please respond by e-mail to manderson@mlca.uscg.mil or by fax (757)628-4675/76. In your response you must include: (a) a positive statement of your intention to submit a bid for this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, points of contact and telephone numbers. (c) past performance references with points of contact and phone numbers. At least two references are requested, but more are desirable. Your response is required by 12 JAN 2001. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on a HUBZone set aside. Failure to submit all information requested may result in an unrestricted acquisition. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set aside or on an unrestricted basis will be posted in the CBD.
