Description

This is a Request for Information (RFI). The Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS) uses a Qualified Products List (QPL) to qualify Global Positioning System (GPS) radiosondes and associated signal processing systems prior to procuring such items. Qualification testing is done on a periodic basis. NOAA desires industry comments on the specification it is considering using the next time that qualification testing for this QPL is undertaken. Interested parties may access this specification at http://www.rdc.noaa.gov/~amd/SOLINDEX.HTML or may obtain a copy of the specification by contacting Mary Watson in writing at the header address or by fax at 301/713-0806. Questions that any interested party may have concerning the requirements enumerated in this specification may be directed to Carl Bower (telephone 301/713-0722 X145) or Dominic Bosco (telephone 301/713-1841) of the NWS. All information submitted in response to this RFI which is received by the Government not later than April 30, 2001 will assuredly be considered by the NWS in its deliberation of this subject. Responses should be submitted in writing to the attention of Ms. Watson at the header address or by fax at 301/713-0806. The Government will not award a contract based on this RFI. The Government will not pay for information received in response to this RFI; provided, however, that costs properly chargeable under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Section 31.205-18, "Independent Research and Development and Bid and Proposal Cost," may be allocated to Government contracts consistent with the terms of such contracts.
