Description

Portable Radio Set AN/PRC-127A. This is a market survey to locate potential source for a new advance replacement for the army's AN/PRC-127A radio set. The new replacement radio set shall be interoperable with the AN/PRC-127A Radio Set. The basic requirement herein is a small, lightweight, handheld transceiver that can provide short-range communications in a military environment. The Radio Set, AN/PRC-127A consists of a receiver/transmitter with a rechargeable battery pack, a battery charger, an antenna, an external handset, an army green carrying case, a spare rechargeable battery pack, and a "clamshell" battery pack (holder either AAA, AA) commercial non-rechargeable batteries which will be supplied by user, i.e. the contractor shall deliver the clamshell battery pack empty. The basic specification for the receiver/transmitter is as follows: The radio set operates at a frequency range of 136-160 MHz, The channel spacing shall be 12.5, Communication Range of 3 km, Preset 14 frequencies randomly selectable across the range of 136-160 MHz with an indicator showing the channel, The size of the radio with the battery attached shall be no larger 3.0" x 8.50" x 2.25". It is desired that the size be as small as possible. The weight of the total radio with all the attachment shall weight no more than 40 oz. It is desire that the weight be as light as possible.
