Description
The Air Force has a requirement to establish a contract for Contractor Logistic Support (CLS) for the hardware maintenance of the B-1 and B-52 Mission Data Preparation System (MDPS). This system provides mission planning capabilities for the aircraft. This system consists of a Micro 3200 Concurrent Computer Corp computer and peripheral equipment, monitors, printers, keyboards. This requirement is for hardware maintenance only, with a requirement of a once a month visit for preventive maintenance and the balance of the month to be on an 8 hour on-call response time for problems with the system. The systems must be maintained at a 90% to 95% effectiveness level. The systems are located at six sites in the US. There are 12 main base systems and 4 deployable systems. There is a requirement for Contractor support for rapid deployment, If needed a Contractor assigned technician/engineer may be required to be deployed within 48 hours to any overseas area (not including any combat zone) to assist the deployed unit with the maintenance of the MDPS system. Anticipated Award Date will be approx 1 Jan 2001. This is a 100% Small Business Set aside under the NAICS code of 334111 for those concerns with less than 1,000 employees. The approximate issue/response date will be 15 NOV 2000. Electronic procedure will be used for this solicitation. See our Web page. An Ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. The purpose of the Ombudsman is not to diminish the authority of the program director or contracting officer, but to communicate contractor, concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. When requested, the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process.
