Description

The Navy, on behalf of the Naval Special Warfare Command, is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. Sources are sought that can provide Non-Developmental Item (NDI)/Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Enhanced parts to increase the reliability of the MK43 MOD0 7.62mm Machine Gun (NSN 1005-01-411-0224) currently in use by Naval Special Warfare. General objectives are to increase reliability of the MK43 by providing enhanced parts of greater durability. The specific weapon parts to be improved are: Firing Pin (P/N 11010376, NSN 1005-00-872-4443), Breech Bolt (P/N 11010358, NSN 1005-00-872-4441) and Operating Rod Assembly (P/N 9362510, NSN 1005-01-183-0572). The threshold requirement is for the Firing Pin to survive 25K rounds without failure and the Breech Bolt and Operating Rod Assembly to survive 50K rounds without failure. Interested vendors are asked to provide a description of improvements to these parts (design changes, material processes, surface treatments etc.,) as well as drawings and other supporting rationale that can be used to assess the ability of the enhanced parts to meet the threshold requirements above. Pricing and availability information should also be provided. Pricing should be provided in economic price breaks for quantities of each component from 1 to 1100.
