- Description
- The Department of the Army, Project Manager, Tactical Radio Communications Systems (TRCS), Fort Monmouth, is seeking potential sources to provide the necessary services, materials, and facilities for production units of a TD-1456/VRC Frequency Hopping Multiplexer (FHMUX) (estimated quantity of 150). The Government anticipates awarding a basic plus two-option year contract, with exact quantities to be determined at a later date. An operational need exists for FHMUX, which can couple up to four Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems (SINCGARS) radios, operating either in the frequency hopping mode, single channel mode, or a combination thereof. (When reference is made to SINCGARS, it is understood that the reference is to both the General Dynamic Land Systems (GDLS) produced and the ITT Aerospace/Communications Division produced model radios.) The FHMUX, with a GFE antenna, will reduce Command Post (CP) antennas set-up/tear-down time, visual signature, and antenna coupling interference. The FHMUX will be fully compatible with SINCGARS, be employed by soldiers in MOPP IV gear, survive NBC decontamination, not affect the SINCGARS ECCM capability, and present no uncontrolled safety/health hazard. The FHMUX will operate from +28 VDC, weigh no more than 75 pounds, not exceed 15.65 x 7.95 x 14.35 inches volume, and demonstrate system availability of 0.96 with at least 3300 hours Mean Time Between Failures. Any supplier must be able to build, test to, meet, and pass all performance requirements/ specifications/parameters of the FHMUX and all military environmental standards. The Government does not have configuration control of drawings and there is no technical data package available. The FHMUX is an item that was designed, tested, and transitioned into production by XETRON Corporation, Cincinnati, OH, under contract DAAB07-97-C-D007. Any supplier must begin delivery of FHMUXs within eighteen months of contract award. Request all responses be submitted to PM TRCS, Attn: SFAE-C3S-TRC-TMD, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5008. The Project Engineer is Mr. James Goon, at (732) 427-3054. Questions are welcome up to the response time. Upon receipt of the responses, a telephonic survey will be conducted with the respondees. Note 22 applies to this market survey.
