Description

The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate a contract to acquire research and development in the area of data mining. As legacy systems age, their associated operating and support costs tend to increase. A methodology and some cost models (based on technical feasibility and economic viability) have been developed, named Technology Assessment and Management (TeAM) by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. This methodology currently gathers data from various Navy and commercial databases. Data such as configuration item of systems, assembly drawings of individual parts into higher functions and units, reliability of the individual parts, availability of individual parts, as well as some programmatic data such as number of systems across platforms, life expectancy of systems, existing operational and support cost, and support strategies. This acquisition will result in a one-year contract effort in developing tools that can extract useful information and patterns from the mentioned large databases to support the TeAM process and I.T. Tool. The award will be a firm fixed price contract. Delivery of data will be required. The solicitation will be posted on NSWC Crane's homepage at http://www.crane.navy.mil/supply/homepage.htm.
