Description
Government customers and resellers are invited to a buyers.gov conference on Monday, October 30th at 1:00PM to 3:30PM in the U.S. General Services Administration auditorium at 18th and F Streets, Washington, DC. (The official point of contact for this conference is Carolyn Day Hicox. Her telephone number is given at the end of this announcement.) Major topics will include buyer aggregation of IT requirements, thereby improving pricing via volume discounts, and increasing reseller exposure in the government marketplace, consequently increasing schedule sales volume. Resellers and Government Buyers are sought for the Federal Technology Service's new electronic web-enabled auction exchange for buying and selling information technology commodities called Buyers.gov. This volume and reverse auction exchange includes three approaches to selling commodities to federal customers; (1) Private Reverse Auctions; (2) Volume Purchasing (called eFAST), which includes aggregation or purchases, and (3) Quick Quotes. The new site is currently operational and offers the following products: Desktop computers, Laptops, Servers, PC Accessories, Monitors Peripherals, Printers, Printer Accessories, FAX Machines, UPS, Scanners, Software, Network Equipment, and Digital Cameras. Using the auctioning and volume purchasing concept, the orders will use the simplified acquisition process thresholds and in some case may be large enough to be a full and open competition. Orders will come from single customers and/or can be small aggregated orders from many federal buyers. Private Reverse Auctions are available at the requiring office's request to meet any government needs. Enabler support for the Buyers.gov, awarded in May of this year, is being provided by: ACS Government Solutions Group Inc., CIS Global, EDS, Freemarkets, Oracle Exchange, Spectrum International, Inc., and Frictionless. Enabler companies in the eFAST model are aggregating the following commodities for volume purchases: ACS -- View Monitors, Micro PC Desktops, Compaq PC Desktops, Dell Servers, 3Com Network Devices, HP Servers, Microsoft 2000 Software, Sony Monitors, Sun Solaris System Servers, Anti-Virus Software, Compaq Laptops, Cisco Network Security Software, Sharp Digital Cameras; Mobshop -- Palm Pilots, Dell PC Desktops, Dell Laptops, IBM PC Desktops, IBM Laptops, HP Scanners, Kodak Digital Cameras, Dell Monitors, Toner Cartridges, Sharp Fax Machines, Toshiba Laptops, HP Color Printers, HP Fax Machines; CIS Global -- Compaq Server Proliant, Gateway PC Desktops, Cisco Network Routes, Switches, Hubs, Cabletron Network Routers, Switches, Microsoft NT Software, Canon Scanners, Microsoft Exchange Server, Novell NetWare, HP Laser Jet Printers, Printers Cables, Microsoft Office Suite Software, APC UPS Systems, Tekronix Laser Printers. Again, there will be a conference for companies interested in participating in Buyers.Gov on Monday, October 30th at 1:00PM to 3:30PM in the U.S. General Services Administration auditorium at 18th and F Streets, Washington, DC. If you are an industry reseller interested in selling commodities through volume purchasing, or interested in attending the October 30 conference, e-mail Ben Reed at ben.reed@gsa.gov with copies to Stephen Timchak at stephen.timchak@gsa.gov and Lisa Trainer at lisa.trainer@gsa.gov.
