Description

The U.S. Navy intends to procure further development and fabrication of the AN/WLD-1(V)1 Remote Minehunting System to complete the engineering development phase of the program. The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to procure two EDM units plus additional subsystems to support the AN/WLD-1(V)1 Test and Evaluation phase with options for additional hardware to support pilot line proofing and time phased procurement. The sole source contract is based upon a system design currently being developed by Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems under NAVSEA contract N00024-96-C-6322. Lockheed Martin is the only known company that currently possesses the required in-depth technical knowledge of the overall RMS system design and integration to develop and fabricate an Engineering Development Model (EDM). No other source currently possesses the technical qualifications and necessary resources to perform the work described herein.
