- Description
- The Natural Gas Vehicle Industry Infrastructure Working Group (NGV-IWG) is soliciting proposals entitled "Enhanced CNG Fueling Nozzle to Avoid Freeze-Up" to address concerns over existing compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle fueling nozzles freezing onto CNG vehicle fueling receptacles. In cool and humid weather, CNG fueling nozzles can sometimes freeze onto the CNG vehicle fueling receptacles. When the CNG fuel exits the fueling nozzle (and expands into the vehicle fuel tanks), it experiences a significant temperature drop and thus, the nozzle cools very rapidly. This solicited effort is intended to develop an enhanced CNG nozzle that will avoid the abovementioned CNG fueling nozzle freeze-up conditions, while maintaining full compatibility with existing NGV1 CNG fueling receptacles. The NGV-IWG is an industry/government research, development, and demonstration program, whereby high-priority NGV infrastructure projects are funded jointly by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Gas Research Institute (GRI), and other industry and government partners. Please note that all proposals must be submitted electronically through the NGV-IWG website. Proposals in response to RFP No. 0000001037 are due to the NGV-IWG website no later than 5:00 p.m. CST, 7 December 2000.
