- Description
- The Natural Gas Vehicle Industry Infrastructure Working Group (NGV-IWG) is soliciting proposals entitled "Preparation of LNG Vehicle Nozzle and Receptacle Test Program" to prepare a plan for a comprehensive testing program to examine the current state-of-the-art of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling nozzles and receptacles. As the use of LNG in vehicles increases, the need to improve and standardize fueling nozzles and receptacles becomes more urgent. Several nozzle designs are commercially available, but none is ideal, and they are incompatible with each other. To decide on a standard fueling receptacle and ultimately, design next generation nozzles to mate with that receptacle, all of the currently available LNG nozzle/receptacle designs need to be objectively examined in a laboratory-testing program that will evaluate the designs over a series of durability test cycles and conditions that are representative of real-life working conditions. This solicited effort shall develop a plan for a comprehensive testing program to examine the current LNG fueling nozzles and receptacles. This plan shall identify the nozzle/receptacle manufacturers that will participate in the program, the test procedures & conditions, and capable laboratories. The plan also shall develop a complete program budget. The NGV-IWG is an industry/government research, development, and demonstration program, whereby high-priority NGV infrastructure projects are funded jointly by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Gas Research Institute (GRI), and other industry and government partners. Please note that all proposals must be submitted electronically through the NGV-IWG website. Proposals in response to RFP No. 0000001038 are due to the NGV-IWG website no later than 5:00 p.m. CST, 23 November 2000.
