Description
The Architect of the Capitol requires Garage Repairs at the Cannon House Office Building, C Street, S.E., and New Jersey Avenue, S.E., Washington, D.C. The area of the garage is 145,000 square feet; and the capacity is 300 cars. The work includes: concrete repair work; normal concrete work; the installation of a drainage system; the installation of a new lighting system and renovation of the electrical distribution system; the renovation of the heating and ventilation systems; the renovation of the fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems; construction of steel framed mechanical penthouses; masonry work; new roofing and waterproofing work. The concrete repairs includes the replacement of the top 3" of the supported decks with new concrete surface sloped to new drainage system. The replacement heating and ventilation system includes the addition of new mechanical penthouses. The parking garage is located within the Cannon House Office Building which will be occupied by Members of Congress, other Government employees, and the general public during the construction period. The parking garage will be closed to Members of Congress, other Government employees, and the general public for the exclusive use of the contractor during the construction period. The Contractor will be required to maintain the existing garage building in a safe and weather-tight condition throughout the construction period. The use of a crane to lift material over the office building to the roof of the garage will not be permitted. All materials for this project must enter the garage through the C Street, S.E. portals. The estimated price is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000.
