- Description
- Due to emergent need Salem, VAMC intends to award sole source to Staff Care a contract for a Temporary Locum Tenens Board Certified Gastroenterologist. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This procurement is conducted under simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. This announcement constitutes a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) and a written solicitation WILL NOT be issued. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition 97-19. RFP 658-15-01 should be referenced on all proposals. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this procurement is 541990 and the small business size standard is gross annual receipts NTE $5.0 million. This procurement is unrestricted. The VA Medical Center, 1970 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem Virginia 24153,has an emergent need for a Temporary Locum Tenens Board Certified Gastroenterologist or Internal Medicine Physician trained as a Gastroenterologist Specialist to provide administrative and GI management services to veteran patients and eligible beneficiaries. (Candidate may be a Board Eligible Physician if within four (4) years of postgraduate residency and/or internship training.) Services shall be required 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding Holidays. Gastroenterologist shall not be required, except in case of emergency, to furnish such services on a National Holiday or during off-duty hours. VAMC Salem, Virginia intends to award a firm, fixed price contract under the authority of Title 38 USC Section 8153. The contract is for a ninety- (90) period but may be extended for an additional ninety- (90) day period. Gastroenterologist shall be a citizen of the United States and shall hold a valid and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia and shall be proficient in the English language, both spoken and written. The Gastroenterologist shall perform the following functions at this facility: (1) Conduct weekly clinic services three (3) days per week 1330-1630; (2) Endoscopy lab Monday through Friday 0800-1200; (3) Responsible for inpatient consults as allotted by Chief of GI Service, approximately five (5) to eight (8) per month; (4) Responsible for the dictation of clinic operation notes and discharge summaries; (5) Provide Gastroenterological on-call coverage as required; (6) Diagnose within the scope of Gastroenterology; (7) Treat within the scope of Gastroenterology; (8) Perform; (a) Colonscopy; (b) Conscious sedation; (c) Encoscopic control of bleeding; (d) ERCP diagnostic and therapeutic; (e) Esophageal dilation endoscopic pneumatic dilators, Mallory dilators; (f) Esophageal varicus band ligation; (g) Esophageal varicus injection ligation; (h) Esophago-Gastroduodenscopy with biopsy; (i) Heaer probe coagulation; (j) Liver Biopsy; (k) Percutomeous endoscopic gastrotomy; (l) Proctoscopy, and; (m) Sigmoid-flexible.
