Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with Humboldt Manufacturing Company for twenty (20) Soil Stiffness Gauges (also known as GeoGauge). The Humboldt Stiffness Gauge is a part of a current multi-state technology evaluation study and will be tested in twenty sites. This gage is used to eliminate soil over-specification and over-compaction, gather soil data to develop performance specifications, effectively control sole compaction within specified limits, get faster, safer and more accurate means of testing soil compaction and measures soil design parameters in the field, (ie, modulus or stiffness). Some vital specifications of the Humboldt Stiffness Gauge are: Measures: Soil Stiffness via Rigid Ring (Force/Displacement), Measurement Rate: ~1 per minute, Weight: 11.4 kg (~25 lb), Size: 28 cm (~11") ODx25.4 cm (10") Tall, Soil Stress & Strain Levels: Common for Pavement, Bedding & Foundations, Data Displayed: Stiffness, Modulus & % Target, Data Entered: Target Stiffness, Poisson_s Ratio & Site Identifiers, Data Storage: (# of Measurements), Research: 10, All Components vs. Frequency, Operational: 200 + as Displayed, Data Transfer: IR Link, Unit to Desktop PC, All Stored Data in ASCII & Power Source: D Size Batteries. Because the Humboldt Company is the manufacturer of the Humboldt Stiffness Gauge they are the only known source for this product.
