- The Navy has a requirement to test the existing phased array radar now installed at AEGIS Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island VA and designated EDM-3C; dismantle the radar equipment group; ship it to Moorestown NJ for further configuration as the National Weather Radar Testbed; and to subsequently ship and assemble it at a prepared site at the National Service Storms Laboratory, Norman OK. It is the Navy's intention to make an award to Lockheed-Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems Surface Systems, Moorestown, NJ on a sole source basis as Lockheed-Martin designed and built the original version of the SPY 1 AIEGIS tactical radar system for the Navy, and have built all subsequent variants and improvements.
