- United Defense Limited Partnership (UDLP) has been awarded a contract from the Army Office of Program Management (OPM), Crusader, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ for the development of the next generation Self Propelled Howitzer (SPH) and Resuppy Vehicle (RSV). The Initial Nuclear Radiation (INR) and/or Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) hardening engineering support have been identified as items, which require subcontractor development. This effort includes performing technical evaluation and assessment of electrical and mechanical systems, subsystems, and component design for nuclear and E3 hardening. Below are the tasks to be performed in an integrated product development organization environment. Requirement engineering with support from UDLP's systems engineering group INR and E3 Execution Plan development Assess product designs Support performance of preliminary product and subsystem evaluations/testing Provide corrective action recommendations Support performance of final product and subsystem evaluations and testing Support development of test plans and procedures Support final system testing activities Report final results The contractor shall support UDLP in the coordination of all activities leading to the successful INR and E3 Compliance Certification of the Crusader System A Request for Proposal (RFP) is expected to be released in late October 2000 for the "Right Flank" portion of the EMD phase of the Crusader program. The period of performance for this effort is from November 13, 2000 through March 31, 2001, at which time the statement of work and contract will be reviewed. Continuation of the contract will be contingent on this review. The follow-on period of performance will be established based on overall program plans and is estimated to last through March, 2003.
