Description

The VA Medical Center (VAMC), San Juan, Puerto Rico, is seeking sources that can provide Medical Care Billing, Collection, Account Receivable Services. All the sources shall include the following services such as pre-authorizations, insurance verification, account receivable activities and delinquent payment follow-up, under its Medical Care Cost Fund (MCCF) Recovery Program. The VAMC has approximately 60,000 patients of which approximately 20% have potential billable health insurance. The VA cannot bill Medicare at this time. All reimbursable insurance potential is from local and US commercial health insurers. We see a workload of approximately 588,732 episodes of care per year. VAMC, San Juan's yearly third party collection goal exceeds 5 million dollars. Y 2000 actual collection was $4.3 million dollars. All interested parties must be able to handle this workload and have experience with the health insurance market in Puerto Rico. The Contractor or his/her Manager shall visit the VA Medical Center building located at #10 Calle Casia, San Juan, Puerto Rico with the Contracting Officer (CO) and/or the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) or Project Manager for the purpose of performance orientation and site/equipment operation. Statement of Work Draft copy will be able to the industry for comments on or about October 16, 2000. All comments shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer not later than October 31, 2000.
