Description

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) requires support for the provision of clinical information services to the public. NLM has undertaken several major projects recently, including the development and management of ClinicalTrials.gov. NLM also is responsible for the management of the AIDS Clinical Trials Information Service (ACTIS) and the HIV/AIDS Treatment Information Service (ATIS) on behalf of other agencies of the Department of Health and Human Services. Further, NLM provides extensive specialized information services including bibliographic information resources and web resources. This requirement will include staffing for telephone information services, web site support, database development and maintenance, user support, and information product development to support the clinical information services noted above. The contractor is expected to provide support across a diverse array of activities that require a broad range of knowledge and skills from data management, customer services, and subject expertise to medical terminology and information dissemination techniques. Further, NLM anticipates that changes will be required over the period of performance to take advantage of new and evolving technologies, changes in policy and to facilitate ease of access to users. It is anticipated that a one-year, cost-reimbursement type contract with options to extend performance for up to an additional 4 years will be awarded. Options for increased quantities of effort for each year are also contemplated. RFP NLM 00-102/SMS will be available in electronic format only. Paper copies will not be issued.
