Description

The USDA FOREST SERVICE intends to award a neogitiated contract for professional services to accomplish "Conservation of Dado Paintings, Murals and Decorative Paintings at our Grey Towers National Historical Landmark located at 151 Grey Towers Dirve, Milford, PA (Pikes County). The Dado paintings were probably created by Hudson Valley School artists, friends of James W. Pinchot, shortly after Grey Towers was completed, circa 1886-1890. Between 1963 and 1999, these dada paintings were covered with wallpaper. The large seascape mural in the Sitting Rood was painted by Dutch Artist N. L. Penning in 1799, and installed at Grey Towers in 1921, after being removed from a building at The Hague. It was most recently conserved in 1988. The decorative painting surrounding this painting and another smaller scene along the same wall, has never been conserved. Solicitation is expected to be issued by October 20,2000; however if this date slips the RFP will be due 30 days from date the sol. is issued. Pre-proposal meeting will be held at the site on November 2, 2000 at 10:30am. Evaluation factors will be included in the solicitation and 5 additional points will be included in the evaluation factors for women-owned businesses.
