Description

The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) has a requirement for the production of the Joint Enhanced Core Communication Systems (JECCS). JECCS will provide a "first-in" backbone communications connectivity to Defense Information Systems Network services in support of the Joint Task Force Enabler (JTFE) mission requirements. JECCS will provide a seamless transition to the Digital Technical Control (DTC) and Tactical Data Network (TDN) systems in support of larger follow-on forces. The system is housed in a S-788 shelter mounted on a Heavy HMMWV. It will serve as the initial communications and coordination node for the follow-on CJTF with capabilities such as NIPRNET, SIPRNET, GBS, VTC, UHF-TACSAT, INMARSAT-B, and DSN. The system fills an acquisition deficiency currently borne by the communications battalions through local procurements, in support of teh JTFE mission. The JECCS has been thoroughly developed and the desired system is well-defined. MARCORSYSCOM intends to award a indefinate-delivery-indefinate-quantity (IDIQ) production contract to build systems very similar to the existing Engineering Development Models (EDMs).
