Description

SOURCES SOUGHT. Bechtel Nevada is seeking sources capable of providing an ILLUMINATION SOURCE with the following characteristics -- Peak power output in visible band (400 to 750 nm) greater than 15 MW with irradiance in visible plane 12 inches from the lamps (without reflectors) of greater than five (5) kW/square cm and pulse duration of three (3) microseconds to one (1) millisecond. The unit will consist of 1) a remote control panel which includes key lock switch, fuses, controls for charging voltage, display meter for voltage on the Pulse Forming Network (PFN); 2) a main unit which is a grounded metal enclosure containing all high voltage elements (20 kv power supply, 10 kJ 20 kV PFN, high voltage switch, high voltage crowbar relays and high voltage resistors to indicate voltage on the PFN and to dissipate energy after shutdown); 3) 150 foot low inductance able with an adaptor for a short length(RG-8) cable to the lamps and 4) set of three surface discharge, flexible illumination geometry lamps capable of surviving the intense electrical impulse.
