Description

Dockside repairs NOAA Ship RONALD H. BROWN-to be performed in Charleston, SC at Pier "Papa" in the former Charleston Naval Station. This is the Coast Guard Pier, near NOAA Pier "Romeo". Performance period to commence on or about November 27, 2000, and shall be completed on or before January 11, 2001 (45 calendar days). Basic contract items include Ventilation Cleaning; Fuel Tank Cleaning, whistle Repair, Main Propulsion Motor Bearing Replacements, Louver and Damper Repairs, and others. In addition, there will be five option items; Compressed Air System Modifications, Inmarsat B Installation, Transducer Sea Chest Preservation, Exhaust Piping Inspection, and Aft Mooring Chock Modifications. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with ABS rules, requiring on-site ABS surveys. NOAA Ship RON BROWN will be available for inspection on October 26, 2000, in San Diego, Ca. Characteristics of NOAA Ship RON BROWN: Length Overall-274 feet; Beam (molded) -- 52 feet -6 inches; draft (Navigational) -- 19 feet; Displacement (FL) -- 3250 LT; Displacement (LS) -- 2100; Gross Tonnage -- 3180 G.T.; Depth to Main Deck -- 26 feet-6 inches; Machinery Plant -- Split Bus Diesel Electric; Diesel Generators: Three Caterpillar 3516 with Kato A24844000@1,500 KW each; Three Caterpillar 3508 with Kato A248410000 @ 715 KW ea.
