- Description
- The Air Armament Center, Precision Strike System Program Office intends to solicit and award a sole source modification to Alliant Techsystems, Janesville, Wisconsin for the procurement of up to 200 articles with 2 options of up to 100 articles each of DSU-33B(D-2)/B Dummy Proximity Sensors. The sensors are necessary to support Air Force DSU-33B/B Proximity Sensor load crew training requirements. Production sensors are scheduled for delivery to Air Force inventory in the October 2000 timeframe. The D-2 Dummy Sensors are required to support training commencement with inventory delivery. The DSU-33B/B is all-weather single mission radio frequency CW ranging radar device designed for installation into the forward fuze well of Mk-80 series general purpose bomb, M-117 general purpose bombs, and Joint Direct Attack Munition guided bombs. These bombs have a 3.5000-12 inch UN 2-B threaded nose fuze well. The sensor interconnect and interact with the FMU-139 fuze or FMU-152 fuze through internal plumbing in the bomb. Alliant is the prime contractor for DSU-33B/B proximity sensors and has the only operable manufacturing capability for DSU-33B/B dummy proximity sensors. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Matters of a routine or administrative nature should be addressed to Captain Kurt N. Buchanan, Contract Specialist at 102 West D Avenue, Suite 300, Eglin AFB, FL 32542-6807, phone (850) 882-8515, x2243 or Ms. Ouida A. Edwards, AAC/WMGK, extension 2007. For further information on this synopsis concerning technical questions, contact Ms. Nancy Droz at extension 3063. An ombudsman has been appointed to address concerns from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. The Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the program director or contracting officer, but communicates contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate Government personnel. When requested, the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process. Interested parties are invited to call Dr. Mario Caluda, at (850) 882-5558 or e-mail: caluda@eglin.af.mil. See numbered Note 22.
