COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 11,2000 PSA#2662 Department of State, Office of Acquisition, P. O. Box 9115, Rosslyn
Station, Arlington, VA 22219-0244 58 -- UPGRADE OF NORTEL TELEPHONE SOFTWARE HARDWARE COMPONENTS SOL
S-LMAQM-00-R-0122 DUE 091400 POC Contact, Ernestine Reddon, (703)
875-6054 This is modification number 1 to synopsis/solicitation notice
no. S-LMAQM-00-R-0122. This notice serves as the official modification
to subject solicitation and a written modification will not be issued.
Companies shall acknowledge all modification(s) in their offer. The
purpose of this modification is to provide answers to questions
received from prospective offerors. Question 1, Group 1: Will "in-house
data conversion" of existing switch data, for each line item, be
required as part of this effort? It is not advisable for installation
teams to attempt to reinstall system data by hand at the new software
release levels; this would be tedious at best, especially since new
CPUs will be required at release 25. Assuming you will require in-house
conversions, each system will require that data be dumped to a disc and
shipped to Nortel Santa Clara for conversion and integration with the
new software load. This effort will need to be coordinated with the
contractor for proper handling and data integrity. There is a cost
associated with this effort. Please advise if in-house conversions will
be required. Answer. "In-house data conversion" of existing switch
data, for each line item will not be required as part of this effort.
The Department of State has people to do the in-house system
conversion. When release 25 is ordered, Nortel will provide the system
features that were ordered in the original software release associated
with that system's serial number. Question 2, Group 1: System software
options must be verified in order to process software upgrade orders
through Nortel. Therefore, existing software options must be provided
for each PBX (line item). This also assumes that additional software
options will not be ordered. Who will provide this information? Answer.
System software options must be verified in order to process software
upgrade orders through Nortel. Existing software options are available
to a licensed Nortel vendor by submitting a system's serial number to
Nortel. No additional software options are to be ordered under this
solicitation. Question 3: Is there a technical point of contact for
this effort? Answer. The technical point of contact for this effort
will be identified in the award document. Question 4: Is there a list
of the Department of State locations for each group and respective
system inventories effected by this solicitation? Answer. A list of
Department of State locations is not required for this solicitation.
Question 5: Who is responsible for the installation? Answer. The
Department of State will be responsible for the installation. The
groups of material will be procured under the guidelines stipulated in
the Commerce Business Daily, Submission No. 481057, dated August 2,
2000. Also, see CBD Note 12. Bid opening date has not been extended.
All bids are due 15:00 EST, September 14, 2000. ReddonBE@state.gov
