marcia.guenin@med.va.gov. The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System,
Marion, Indiana is seeking possible sources to provide a portable alarm
system intended for employees. It is intended for the employee to wear
a small device on their person, which can be activated by pressing a
button, in the event the employee needs assistance. The alarm is then
transmitted via pagers to a team of individuals. The portable device
must be capable of activating the pager system (Mfr Zetron) from
anywhere in specified buildings. A second panic (duress) alarm system
will require a stationary button under the desk or on the wall in
specified offices. This alarm shall be transmitted over the portable
radio carried by VA police officers. The Marion campus is a
predominantly psychiatric facility and some buildings have wire mesh in
the plaster walls and ceilings. We have a radio frequency type fire
alarm system manufactured by King Fisher Co. We also have an existing
hard-wired panic alarm system, manufactured by Simplex. Posted 08/02/00
