International and participating agencies will explore Data Management
in the 21st Century at the 17th Annual Federal Database Colloquium and
Exposition 2000, September 6-8 at the Catamaran Resort Hotel in San
Diego, California. THEME: This year's theme emphasizes a variety of
information activities, from tactical military systems to agency
business systems of the future. Exhibitors will display the latest
technologies and services designed to meet the current and future needs
in database design and management. This three-day event includes
featured speakers and panel sessions as well as papers written and
presented by experts in their fields. The show is designed to focus on
various facets of data management, highlighting one topic each day.
Data Access and Applications Day, Wednesday, September 6th includes
presentations by RADM Kenneth D. Slaght, USN, Chief, C4I Systems
Directorate and Chief Engineer, SPAWAR and Dr. Bhavani Thuraisingham,
Senior Principal Engineer, The MITRE Corporation. Capping off
Wednesday's events will be a Technology Reception in the Exhibit Hall.
Thursday, September 7th is Data Mining and Warehouse Day. Mr. Brian
Wilczynski and Ms. Patricia Carbone will present their views on this
issue. Mr. Wilczynski is the Data Management and Interoperability
Initiative Lead for the Department of Navy Chief Information Officer.
Ms. Carbone is the Manager of Intelligent Information Management and
Exploitation Technology at The MITRE Corporation. Friday, September 8th
features two speakers as well as two panel sessions. Discussion on the
final day will be on Information Systems and DBMS. Ms. Diann McCoy,
Director of National Communication Systems, DISA and Mr. Tom Nabors,
Director of Automated Information Systems (AIS) Programs Division,
COMNAVMETOCCOM will be the featured speakers. Ms. Dawn Hartley, Chief
Technology Officer, DISA, will host the first panel session and Ms.
Carbone returns to moderate the second panel session. FEES,
