Y -- MAINTENANCE DREDGING, 5-FOOT CHANNEL AND TURNING BASIN, UNION RIVER, ELLSWORTH, MAINE SOL DACW33-00-B-0015 DUE 091100 POC Carol Husselbee 978/318/8420 This project consists of maintenance dredging using mechanical methods of approximately 73,900 cubic yards (includes 33,600 cubic yards of allowable overdepth) of material from the lower mile and upper 1.5 mile portions of a 3.75 mile long existing channel and turning basin in the Union River in Ellsworth, Maine. The material to be dredged is primarily sands and silty sands, with some gravel. As the channel was the last maintained in 1908-1911, debris and boulders are expected to be found and shall be removed and disposed of by the Contractor. The existing channel and turning basin are to be dredge to -5 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW), with allowable overdepth to -6 feet MLLW. All dredged material is to be removed by mechanical methods and disposed of by scow. Disposal of dredged material shall be at a specified point at the Union River Bay Disposal Site west of Tuppers Ledge, approximately 1.2 miles from the mouth of the federal channel. The estimated cost of this work is between $500,000.00 to $1,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 120 calendar days of a notice to proceed. Solicitation shall be available on or about 8/11/00. This solicitation is 100% set-aside for small business concerns.
