Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Northern California Area Office
(Reclamation), requires a contractor to package, transport, and
recycle/dispose of the hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste
consisting of oily/greasy rags & absorbents; nickel cadmium batteries;
distribution transformers; breakers; solvents; contaminated fuels;
oily sludge; non-friable asbestos; toners; coating; and paints.
Additionally, Reclamation requires a 3-year term contract for the
disposition of its recurring waste streams. Disposition of the wastes
subject to the resultant contract shall be managed in accordance with
local, state, and federal regulations so as to eliminate Reclamation's
future liability relating to the disposition of the materials. The
majority of the wastes are located at the Bureau of Reclamation,
Northern California Area Office, Shasta Dam Maintenance Center, 16349
Shasta Dam Blvd., Shasta Lake, CA 96019. The Shasta Dam Maintenance
Center is approximately 15 miles northwest ofRedding, CA. In addition
to the nickel cadmium batteries located at the Shasta Dam Maintenance
Center, nickel cadmium batteries are located at 4 additional sites
within 50 miles of the Shasta Dam Maintenance Center. Numbered Note 1.
