59 -- SHIPBOARD ENVIRONMENTAL SYNOPSIS/CONTRACT MODIFICATION NOTICE -- CABINETS WITH INTEGRAL INSTALLATION KITS, POWER DISTRIBUTION PANELS AND COOLING BLOWERS FOR AEGIS AND OTHER CLASS SHIPS The purpose of this synopsis is to give notification that the Government intends to modify contract N00421-97-D-1116 under FAR 52.243-1 CHANGES-FIXED PRICE, consistent with Paragraph #9 of the Statement of Work, entitled, "DESIGN MODIFICATION/EVALUATION CLINS". The proposed changes would revise CLINs 0004 through 0007 and 0011 through 0014 of Section B of the contract. As a result of the proposed changes, there will be a net increase in the contract value by $172,849.22 from $6,340,091.11 to $6,512,940.33. This contract was awarded to General Kinetics, Inc., 14130-A Sullyfield Circle, Chantilly, VA 20151, U.S.A., in January 1997 for environmental cabinets and associated blower assemblies, connector panels, and integral equipment installations kits for AEGIS and other class ships. Since the award of the contract, new equipment has been proposed for integration into various systems design; in particular, the radio communication system for AEGIS Class ships. This design change requires the addition of four new types of power distribution panels to be added to this contract, along with the corresponding installation kits for the new radio equipment. The proposed changes are within the general scope of the contract because the basic function of the environmental cabinets and associated blower assemblies, connector panels, and integral equipment installation kits will be the same as stated in the original contract.
