NASA/ARC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for purchase of condenser microphones, amplifiers, and power supplies to create an accoustic antenna for a Phased Microphone Array System (PMAT) used in conducting Airframe Noise Studies. Specific Requirements: (1) 40BF-S, condenser microphones, 1/4", special vent, qty. 10 ea; (2) 26AC preamplifier, 1/4", 2 m cable to 7 pin LEMO with 1/2" adapt., qty. 15 ea; (3) 12AG microphone power supply, 8 chan with gain BNC connectors on front, mic, inputs on back, qty. 1 ea; (4) CAL200 calibrator, 1/2", 94/114 dB, 1000Hz, type 1, qty. 1 ea; (5) ADP024 1/2"-1/4" adapter for CAL200, qty. 1 ea. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/ARC intends to purchase the acoustic instrumentation from The Modal Shop of Napa, CA, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), based on its unique capability to interface completely with several existing units. All microphones have to be virtually identical in geometry, response, andsensitivity relative to the existing 100 microphones in the PMAT system. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 11, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
