MENDES, (808) 438-6535 x201 The Directorate of Contracting is
soliciting information for potential sources sought. IAW with a
Commercial Activities Proposed Action Summary announced to Congress on
17 Jul 98, the U.S. Army is conducting a review IAW the Office of
Management and Budget Circular No. A-76 entitled "Performance of
Commercial Activities," for performance of the Directorate of Community
Activities Auto Craft Services at the US Army Garrison Hawaii located
on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The Auto Craft facilities are
geographically dispersed between Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter.
Services are currently being performed by Government employees
(appropriated and non-appropriated funded) and military personnel. The
Auto Craft activities provide professional instructors to conduct
competent diagnostic and other technical assistance for self-help,
instruction, tools, equipment and guidance to authorized patrons. These
activities allow soldiers to repair and service their automobiles at a
reasonable price compared to the high cost off post and are located at
Schofield Barracks, Bldg 910 and at Fort Shafter Flats, Bldg 1535 next
to the AAFES Car Center. Both facilities also operate a salvage yard.
The Auto Craft Center at Ft Shafter also repairs the Directorate of
Community Activities non-appropriated fund vehicles. The hours of
operation for both Auto Craft Shops are Wednesday to Friday, 1130 to
1930; Saturday and Sunday, 0900 to 1600; and for the salvage yard,
Wednesday to Sunday, 0800 to 1630. The purpose of this notice is to
identify and establish initial interest from the vendor community.
Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing lists,
acquisition strategies, to include socio-economic program support, and
to help establish commercial practices available to the Government.
Any response to this notice should include the following information:
Company name, point of contact, address, telephone and fax numbers,
e-mail address, brief description of company and capabilities,
experience areas, size, history, CAGE code and/or tax ID number, and
business size category. The Standard Industrial Classification is 8399.
The standard size for small business in $5,000,000. NOTE: Participation
in this effort is strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be
incurred by the US Government. All contractors who provide
goods/services to the Department of Defense must be registered in the
