E-MAIL: Ronnee R. Gonzalez, rgonzalez@mail.arc.nasa.gov. NASA/ARC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for upgrading existing high temperature vacuum furnace, Thermal Technology Incorporated. (TTI)Model HTG-7010, to a high temperature hot press, Model HP50-HTG-7010. This upgrade will support Ultra High Temperature Ceramics Research. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/ARC intends to purchase installation of the hot press from Thermal Technology Inc. of Santa Rosa, CA. TTI is the manufacturer of the existing model HTG-7010. As such, TTI is uniquely qualified to make the upgrade based on their possession of proprietary information and specialized experience. This sole source is made pursuant to FAR Part 13.106-1(b). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on July 21, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
