Senate, Office of the Sergeant at Arms, Washington, DC, intends to
procure engineering technical support services and support to design,
engineer, install, and test a High Definition (HD) Senate Television
(TV) facility to replace an existing analog-based facility. Contractor
and facilities must be located within the Washington DC Local
Commuting Area to receive award. The entire United States Senate TV
facility, except for the robotic camera and United States Senate
Chamber audio systems, will be replaced with new equipment. The United
States Senate will provide the cameras, production switchers,
character generators, and other major equipment items to the Contractor
for the upgrade. The Contractor will be responsible for translating the
Senate's conceptual design into a detailed engineering layout, and
procure the racks and ancillary equipment, cabling, and other items;
wire and assemble the equipment racks; remove the existing equipment;
install the digital facility; and test the digital facility. The United
States Senate will host prospective offerors at pre-bidder's
conferences scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2000, and Monday, July 10,
2000 at 9:00 AM. The Pre-Bidders Conference will consist of a brief
overview of Senate TV, a walk-through of the existing Senate TV
facility and supporting rooms, and a brief visit to the United States
Senate Chamber to view the placement of the digital cameras.
Prospective offerors are limited to two representatives, and may only
attend the conference one time. Prospective offerors should send a
facsimile with names of attendees to Lawrence B. Toperoff's attention
at (202) 228-2051, and also request a copy of the solicitation.
Attendees must check in by 8:45 AM with the United States Senate
Appointments Desk, located on the Senate side of the United States
Capitol through the north door, on the day scheduled to attend the
conference. Prospective offerors will be escorted to the location of
the pre-bidders conference and tour of the facilities. All
