COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 6,2000 PSA#2636INDONESIA PEG GRANTS PARTNERSHIP FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH (PEG) PROJECT,
USAID 497-0357. Contact Point: Jeffrey J. Povolny, Grants Manager, PEG
Project, Indonesia, Tel: 62-21-520-1047/1060, Fax: 62-12-520-1064. (A)
The Partnership for Economic Growth (PEG), on behalf of the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government
of Indonesia (GOI), is seeking applications from Indonesian and U.S.
organizations willing to form long-lasting partnerships to work on
significant economic management and policy issues. On or about July 1,
2000, a Request for Applications (RFA FY 2000) will be issued by the
PEG Project in Indonesia. The RFA will request grant award applications
from a wide range of Indonesian and American organizations which are
willing to form long-lasting partnerships to work on significant
economic management and policy issues under the USAID-Government of
Indonesia (GOI)-sponsored Partnership for Economic Growth. Only
applications that adequately demonstrate legitimate partnerships of
U.S. and Indonesian organizations will be considered for a grant award.
All applications should be submitted to the Grants Manager on the date
stated in the RFA. Grant Awards may be proposed for any period of time
which is not less than one year and not more than three years. USAID
Project may award a number of grants as a result of this RFA. The total
amount of each grant award may vary up to $1 million for a period of up
to three (3) years. Recipients are expected to contribute non-USAID
resources to a cost sharing arrangement. Applications for these Linkage
Grants will be solicited competitively and evaluated against the
criteria specified in the RFA. In view of the current economic
situation faced by Indonesia, the FY 2000 grants applications should
address the GOI/USAID strategic objective: lay the foundation for
rapid, sustainable and equitable economic growth. Since the objective
of the PEG Project is to promote the sustained exchange of intellectual
capital between the two countries on significant economic issues, all
applications must involve joint work between at least one U.S. and one
Indonesian organization. Partnerships are expected to involve the
following sorts of entities: government agencies or departments,
universities, private research organizations or think tanks,
professional associations, other Non Governmental and Private Voluntary
Organizations (NGO's, PVO's) and trade associations. Examples of the
types of focus areas in which USAID could fund applications are as
follows: The Role of Government in a Market Economy, Financial and
Corporate Restructuring, International Trade, Decentralization and
Small and Medium Enterprises. Please note that these examples are
purely illustrative. (B) It is anticipated that the RFA FY2000 will be
available to download from the Project web site on or about July 1,
2000. The Worldwide Web address is http://pegasus.or.id/. Receipt of
the RFA through the INTERNET must be confirmed by written notification
to the PEG Grants Manager. It is the responsibility of the recipient
of the solicitation document to ensure that it has been received from
INTERNET in its entirety and neither USAID nor the PEG Project will
bear any responsibility for data errors or omissions resulting from the
