Army Alaska is conducting a review of potential contractor services for
performance of the Directorate of Community Activity Services at the US
Army garrison. Programs and facilities are geographically dispersed
between Fort Richardson, located in Anchorage, Alaska and Fort
Wainwright located adjacent to Fairbanks, Alaska. The major functional
areas under consideration include the swimming pools. The purpose of
this notice is to identify and establish initial interest from the
vendor community. Responses are for planning purposes only. There is no
obligation on the part of the government to issue a formal solicitation
as a result of this request and participation in this effort is
strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the US
Government. Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing
lists, acquisition strategies, to include socioeconomic program support
and to help establish commercial practices available to the government.
Companies responding may indicate interest in one or both functional
areas. Services are currently being performed by Government employees
(appropriated and non-appropriated funding). Swimming Pools: The pools
are open 7 days a week Monday through Friday 6AM to 9:30PM,
Saturday/Sunday 11:30AM to 6:30PM. Provides programs/services: Open and
Lap swimming; Red Cross life saving skills; water safety classes; unit
drown proofing; CPR and 1st Aid Classes; Life Guards; pool
maintenance; special interest classes i.e., water aerobic, baby
classes; special parties for Youth Services. A minimum of two life
guards are required at all times and must possess training to meet
required safety standards. No swimming at own risk permitted. Estimated
yearly customers = 94,000. Any responses to this notice should include
the following information: company name, point of contact, address,
telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, brief description of company
and capabilities, experience areas, size, history, awards or
certificationsreceived by the company or its employees, CAGE code
and/or tax ID number, and business size category. The Standard
Industrial Classification is 7999. The standard size for small business
is $5,000,000. Small businesses will be expected to demonstrate
experience in all areas and good past performance. Interested parties
should provide responses to the market survey questionnaire that can be
accessed on the U.S. Army Alaska, Directorate of Contracting web site
located at http://www.usarak.army.mil/doc/, by 1 August 2000. All
contractors who provide goods/services to the Department of Defense
must be registered in the Central Contractor's Register (CCR). Award of
a DOD contract for solicitations issued after 31 May 98 will not be
made unless the contractor is registered in the CCR. You may register
