23 -- ACQUISITION OF M60 TANK UPGRADE POC MAJ Greg Sears, 810-574-8890 E-MAIL: PM Abrams -- M60 Series Tank Upgrade, searsg@tacom.army.mil. Amendment 4 to Sources Sought Notice dated June 15, 2000 (Amendment 1 dated June 21, 2000; Amendment 2 dated June 26, 2000; Amendment 3 dated June 28, 2000). SUBJECT: Acquisition of M60 Tank Upgrade. The purpose of this amendment is to change the notice in its entirety to read as follows: The US Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command is planning to upgrade 170-200 M60 series tanks for a Foreign Military sales customer. Quantities may increase as other Foreign Military Sales customers request similar upgrades in the future. The project requires that interested contractors submit a complete upgrade package for the M60 series tank. Upgrades include, but are not limited to, replacing the current armament with a 120 smooth bore cannon and Abrams-type Fire Control System, a replacement turret ranging from an upgraded M60 turret to an M1A1 turret, the up-powered 1790 version engine and upgraded suspension and track systems to support the increased weight load. Also consider the Commanders Independent Thermal Viewer (CITV) and the Thermal Management System (TMS) as future upgrades. Contractors are encouraged to submit viable options to the above mentioned requirements. The plan is to apply upgrades in the FMS customer's country. Please respond with a Letter of Interest and a description of your program to include schedule and technical information. A Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) is desirable.
