COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 29,2000 PSA#2632SPECIAL NOTICE 00-22: USING CONTROL THEORY FOR MILITARY COMMAND AND
CONTROL; JULY 12, 2000; RADISSON HOTEL SOUTH, MINNEAPOLIS MN. POC: Col
Daniel C. McCorry, USAF, DARPA/ISO. The Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA) has sponsored progressive research in the
application of control theoretics to military command and control.
Modeling and computational results, to date, have demonstrated the
potential for revolutionary performance improvements through the use of
formal control theory mathematics and strategies. DARPA is hosting a
Technology Display (similar to an Industry Day) to 1) showcase these
experimental results and their value to future military command and
control, and 2) introduce current DARPA-sponsored researchers to more
academic, industrial, and government sectors interested in producing
enterprise-level control systems. This Display, a one (1) day event,
will be held in Minneapolis MN at the Radisson Hotel South & Plaza
Tower (Atrium Rooms 3 & 4), 7800 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington
(Minneapolis) MN 55439, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Displays (in a science
fair venue) will be provided ONLY by the 14 contractors performing the
current research and will highlight progress, to date, in areas such
as, model predictive control, hierarchical control, Markov decision
chains, abstract board games, zero-sum games, neuro-dynamic
programming, linguistic geometry, pheromones, auction mechanisms, inter
alia, as applied in a military command and control environment.
Interested parties should limit their contingents to six people. While
security clearances are not required, personnel registrations are
required. Registrations should be forwarded by e-mail to
JFACC_Program@darpa.mil, subject "Technology Display Registration" and
include the name, organization, e-mail address and telephone number(s)
of each individual wishing to attend. Registrations are due by 6 July
2000. In light of the success of current research efforts, DARPA may
sponsor potential future work to address the dynamics of hybrid man and
machine command and control. Interested parties should note that THIS
SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL OF ANY KIND,NOR SHOULD IT BE
CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION
AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. Posted 06/27/00 (W-SN468954). Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0493 20000629\SP-0021.MSC)
