The work includes, but is not limited to, providing a lecture hall in
the northern end of Building 1112CP, Naval Station Newport, Rhode
Island. Work items include partial demolition of walls, ceilings,
finishes, roofing, siding, plumbing, heating, ventilating, piping and
ductwork, electrical power, lighting and distribution systems, control
wiring, alarm systems equipment, and incidental related work in the
northern portion of Building 1112CP. New construction includes site
utilities, walls, doors and hardware, floors, ceilings, carpentry,
finishes, lecture hall seating, roofing, siding, sprinkler system,
plumbing and piping, heating, ventilating, and A/C piping, ductwork,
equipment, temperature controls and related work, electrical power,
lighting and distribution systems and related work. The project
includes removal and disposal of lead-based paint and asbestos
containing materials. A portion of the building will remain in
operating for the duration of the project and the Contractor shall
conduct his operations so as to cause the least possible interference
with the normal operations of the facility. The solicitation is issued
as UNRESTRICTED. The standard industrial classification code (SIC) is
1542 and the size standard $17.0 million. The estimated cost range is
between $1,000,000.00 and 5,000,000.00. Davis Bacon Wages are
applicable to this project. The ESTIMATED bid opening date is 15 Aug
2000. PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE CONTRACTS
OFFICE. Per the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996, the Defense
Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) has been amended to
require all contractors to register in the Department of Defense (DOD)
Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database. Be advised for
solicitations issued after May 31, 1998, failure to register in the CCR
makes an offeror ineligible for award of DOD contracts. Information
regarding this registration may be obtained by accessing the website at
www.ccr2000.com or by referring to DFARS Subpart 204.73. Offerors
should submit verification of their firm's registration in the CCR
