GERBER TECHNOLOGY ARTWORKS STUDIO Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Materiel Command Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a contract on a sole source basis with Gerber Technology, Inc. 24 Industrial Park Road West, Tolland, CT 06084, which is an effort to provide the Government with their Artworks Studio apparel design sketching software, which is compatible with the U.S. Army-Soldier Systems Center's (SSC) current apparel style data. This effort is to acquire a new function of the current database, which must be compatible with the US Army-SSC style of data. Currently the US Army-SSC has an apparel CAD system from Gerber Technology, purchase of any other apparel CAD system, would not enable the US Army-SSC to utilize current data or those from partnering agencies. Also, if a different apparel CAD system is used, it would required the US Army-SSC to input over 500 current apparel designs into a new apparel system, thereby, incurring substantial duplication of costs, with the possibility of losing critical data for the fulfillment of the mission. Gerber will also provide associated hardware (20 inch color monitor, wacom tablet, 2gb external SCSI drive, system phaser printer-740, artworks scanner A/4 letter, and 15M UTP CAT 5 cable), training and installation of their software and hardware.
